Award winning global architects, CHROFI and KANNFINCH, were selected through a City of Sydney Design Excellence Competition for what will be one Sydney’s most iconic residential developments. Competing amongst four highly renowned local and international architects, the winning concept was not only innovative but thought provoking. Their ability to add flair and creativity whilst maximising the character and finer grain of the local area was exceptional.
The strong ‘podium framework’ design follows the curvature of Wentworth Park Road. Separate Tower Pods rise to nine storeys, capturing views of Sydney’s CBD, Anzac Bridge and Wentworth Park. The four pods create a distinctive architectural presence, reinforcing the park edge and providing wonderful view lines across the Park to the City.
This innovative design has not only captured and converged the essence of Glebe’s terrace housing and the larger urban footprint of Ultimo, but has brought a fine grain, European style to an important gateway site that links the Park and Blackwattle Bay to Broadway shopping centre and the University precinct.
